Warner Robins Jobs Remain at All-Time High

Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Thursday, July 26th, 2018

Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Thursday that Warner Robins set a record for jobs in June as it posted mostly positive employment numbers.

Warner Robins saw increases in the labor force and number of employed, and all indicators remain positive for the year for the three-county metropolitan statistical area.

During the month, the labor force grew faster than could be absorbed through hiring, causing the unemployment rate to rise. Butler remains confident about the overall job market.

“The Georgia job market is very strong,” said Butler. “An uptick in the unemployment rate is common this time of year due to an increase in high school and college graduates entering the workforce.”

The labor force saw typical gains in June as students and recent graduates sought summer employment. It grew by 670 to 87,197, a gain of 2,486 for the year.

As a result, the June unemployment rate increased to 4.3 percent, up .7 percent from the previous month but down from 5.1 percent one year ago.

Warner Robins jobs remained flat for the month, continuing to sit at an all-time high of 75,200. This puts Warner Robins up 1,800 jobs for the year.

The number of employed increased in June, with Warner Robins gaining 42 employed residents. At 83,452 total employed residents, Warner Robins is up by 3,049 for the year.

Initial claims for unemployment were unchanged for the month and are down by about 13 percent from last year.

The MSA includes Houston, Peach and Pulaski counties.
