The Spirit of America children’s book series is celebrating  “Christmas in July,” at Barnes and Noble at the Shoppes at River Crossing in Macon, on Saturday, July 21, from 12noon to 3pm. The special edition “The Night Before Christmas in America” is being re-released for a summer five city author-illustrator tour.

Clement Moore’s famous poem “The Night Before Christmas” is given a patriotic twist in Author MaryTherese Grabowski’s book. “Santa takes young readers on a patriotic flight with one mission in mind, to show the gift of Democracy,” Grabowski explains.

The coffee table book, with beautiful illustrations from Michelle Graham Fricks, also pays homage to our military. “The Night Before Christmas in America” is dedicated to the heroism of Macon’s SGT. Rodney M. Davis, Warner Robins PFC. Greg Goodrich and Captain Robert Lopez of Texas.

To make the July 21st event even more special, Barnes and Noble welcomes Author John D. Hollis who will be signing his book “SGT Rodney M.Davis: The Making of a Hero.”  This recently-released book tells the story of Macon’s only Medal of Honor recipient who sacrificed his own life to save the lives of his fellow Marines during the Vietnam War.
