Senator John F. Kennedy (R – Macon) recently scored an “A+” and Chamber Champion designation on the Georgia Chamber of Commerce Legislative Scorecard which grades legislators on their support of the chamber’s top legislative priorities during the 2017-2018 Legislative Session.

“It is an honor to be recognized with this score and designation,” said Sen. Kennedy. “We all know that supporting and protecting our businesses, big and small, is the best way to ensure our economy continues to move in the right direction. I commend the Chamber for prioritizing legislation that supports our economy while ensuring rural Georgia is not left out of the conversation. Our work to keep Georgia the number one place to do business is never over and I look forward to working with the Chamber to keep this initiative moving forward.”

The chamber assigns grades based on a legislator’s support of the Chamber’s 12 legislative priorities which focus on issues important to the business community such as economic development, education, health care and employment among others. Along with voting favorably for all 12 pieces of legislation, Sen. Kennedy carried one of the Chamber’s priorities, House Bill 192, in the Senate during the 2017 session. HB 192 addresses responsibilities and standard of care for directors and officers who serve on corporate boards. This legislation was signed into law on May 9, 2017 and became effective on July 1, 2017.
