Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Thursday, May 24th, 2018

Georgia Military College Prep School will be breaking ground on a new building to house the incoming fourth and fifth graders, on Thursday, May 24, at 9:30 a.m. Located on the Historic Old Capitol Square, the new Prep School Annex will be a 24,076 square foot building. It will sit next to the newly renovated Jenkins Hall. The significant from the Old Capitol building to Wayne Street dictates a one and a half story building. The lower level will contain the main entrance, as well as a 1,428 square foot Visual Arts studio. The upper level will provide a cafeteria with a full kitchen and large outdoor patio. The cafeteria will seat 288 students for lunch and approximately 550 for student performances. The upper level will also house a student testing room, conference room, two administrative offices, and four large classrooms. It is expected to open in the spring of 2019. Until then, the new fourth and fifth grade students will be housed in four classrooms on the bottom level of the Old Capitol building until the Prep School Annex is ready.

GMC Prep School leaders and guests will break ground Thursday morning at the building site, followed
by a reception at the site.
