Coliseum Health System Volunteer Program Awards $10,000 in Scholarships to Local Students

The volunteer program at Coliseum Health System recently awarded a total of $10,000 in academic scholarships to local students. Ten individual scholarships worth $1,000 were presented to graduating high school seniors and post-secondary students pursuing careers in healthcare. Volunteers from Coliseum Medical Centers and Coliseum Northside Hospital raise scholarship funds and select qualified, exceptional student recipients each year.
 
The recipients of the 2018 scholarships are:

•       Elizabeth Chambers is a senior at John Milledge Academy and plans to attend the University of Georgia; she is pursuing a career in cardiothoracic surgery.

•       Abigail Hightower is a senior at Mary Persons High School and plans to attend the University of Georgia; she is pursuing a career as a physician assistant.

•       Alexis Kelley is a current student at Middle Georgia State University where she is pursuing a career in nursing.

•       Courtney Knight is a current student at Mercer University where she is pursuing a career in pharmacy.

•       Mary Jo McCary is a senior at Windsor Academy and plans to attend Mercer University; she is pursuing a career as a surgeon.

•       Payal Patel is senior at Howard High School and plans to attend Mercer University; she is pursuing a career in dentistry.

•       Eshan Shah is a senior at Howard High School and plans to attend the University of Georgia; he is pursuing a career in dentistry.

•       Faith Siror is a current student at Wesleyan College where she is pursuing a career in nursing.

•       Sarah Jane Thompson is senior at Mount de Sales Academy and plans to attend Auburn University; she is pursuing a career in speech therapy.

•       Amy Wilkinson is a senior at Howard High School and plans to attend Georgia College & State University; she is pursuing a career in nursing.
