CGTC Asks Commencement Attendees to Consider Alternate Travel Routes to Macon Centreplex

Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Thursday, May 3rd, 2018

Central Georgia Technical College encourages faculty, staff, graduates, and guests of Friday’s commencement ceremony to plan their travel routes in advance, as the Georgia Department of Transportation plans closures for both northbound and southbound lanes of I-75, and one lane of I-16 that evening.

GDOT recently announced that beginning Friday night, closure to multiple lanes on both pivotal Macon interstates near the Riverside Drive Bridge may cause delays. GDOT has not announced a specific time for the closures.

CGTC Campus Police, which oversees the traffic and safety of the event, encourages all attendees to be aware of the heavy traffic congestion caused by the construction around the Macon Centreplex.

CGTC’s commencement ceremony will be held at the Macon Centreplex Coliseum, Friday, May 4 at 7 p.m. CGTC’s ceremony will be live streamed and may be viewed at www.centralgatech.edu. A special link will be available the day of the event.
