Perry Dogwood Festival STEM Day April 5th

Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Wednesday, April 4th, 2018

The Perry Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with The Museum of Aviation, is again pleased to connect the Annual Dogwood Festival's Hot Air Balloons with STEM education.  For 2018, the Chamber has scheduled a STEM Day at The Westfield School in Perry on Thursday, April 5th.  The purpose of this event is to show students how the elements of Hot Air Ballooning illustrate different STEM studies.  Topics such as lift, volume, and elements of flight will be among those explained with the balloons.  The students will hear from pilots, crew, and Museum of Aviation staff.  Weather permitting, students will be able to watch as a balloon envelope is inflated and deflated with some being able to help the crew during these processes.  The event will begin at 7:30am with the arrival and layout of the balloons, the Perry Fire Truck, the Westfield mascot, and characters from the Perry Player's production "The Wizard of Oz".  The press is invited to be present and report on this great event.

For more information about this event, contact Darlene McLendon Pres/CEO, Perry Area Chamber of Commerce at 478-987-1234 or [email protected].
