Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Thursday, March 15th, 2018

Mercer Youth Programs include College for Kids (rising first- through fifth-graders) and Mercer Youth University (rising sixth- through eighth-graders), which are summer enrichment programs held at Mercer University, 160 Henry Parkway in McDonough, GA 30253. Beginning their 28th year this summer, these programs are among the longest running of their kind in the Middle Georgia area.

Classes are designed to cultivate students’ creative writing, math, science and “NEW” social studies skills, while allowing their imaginations to soar. The programs include creative activities and hands-on experiences. Classes are aligned with Georgia Board of Education curriculum and standards. All teachers are fully qualified and certified. Mercer Youth Programs recognize the achievements of the students in a ceremony scheduled in late September, when student writers receive a hardbound copy of the works of all students from creative writing and social studies courses. Math and science students receive awards.

The summer program is scheduled from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. and/or 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. during the weeks of June 4 - 8, June 11 - 15, June 18 - 22 and June 25 - 29. The fee for each weekly morning or weekly afternoon course is $190. Mercer provides all instruction materials.
