Macon Bacon Celebrates the 100 Day Countdown until Opening Night

Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Friday, February 23rd, 2018

The inaugural season for the Macon Bacon is right around the corner. The team celebrated the 100 Day Countdown until Opening Night which will take place on June 1st versus the Lexington County Blowfish at the newly renovated Luther Williams Field.

“This is a very exciting time for us,” said Team President Todd Pund. “Tickets are flying out the door and construction activity is moving at light speed.”

Community support has been very high for the Macon Bacon, as the team announced they have just 75 All-You-Can-Eat 5-game plans remaining and 175 season tickets.

“We have less than 300 seats remaining for Opening Night,” said Pund. “Those seats are all held for fans who want one of our All-You-Can-Eat ticket packages.  We can safely say right now, more than three months before the game that there will be no single game tickets available for the Bacon’s inaugural game.”

Team co-owner Steve DeLay, who is also part owner of the Savannah Bananas compared Bacon ticket sales to the Bananas in their first season in 2016.  “We sold out the first game in Savannah three days before.  Here, we’ll sell out the first Bacon game three months before,” said DeLay.  “We ended up selling out 18 of our 25 home games in Savannah in our first season and then sold every ticket to every game last year.  We’re way ahead of the pace we set in Savannah.”
