The Technical College System of Georgia Foundation announced it will award $22,985 to all 22 TCSG colleges via the Gretchen K. Corbin Last Mile Fund. The Fund was established to provide TCSG students with “the last mile” of gap funding for tuition, fees, and books and helps increase retention and graduation rates for all TCSG colleges. Formerly known as The Last Mile Fund, The Gretchen K. Corbin Last Mile Fund got its new name in recognition of former TCSG Commissioner, Gretchen Kuglar Corbin at the TCSGF’s “A Taste of TCSG” event in December 2017.

“Our students are our number one priority, which means we do everything we can to help ensure they can graduate ready to join Georgia’s workforce,” said TCSG Commissioner, Matt Arthur. “This fund is an important piece to helping more students get across the finish line and I commend the TCSG Foundation for their generosity to our colleges. Special thanks goes to Bryan Batson, President of The Technical College System of Georgia Foundation Board of Trustees, and his fellow Trustees for their leadership in this initiative.”

Several Georgia-based companies, including Georgia Power and Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, have donated to The Gretchen K. Corbin Last Mile Fund since its launch. “At Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, we are grateful to work alongside the Technical College System of Georgia, investing in future generations of Georgia’s workforce,” said Stuart C. Countess, Chief Administrative Officer for KMMG. “We are proud to have made the inaugural gift to The Gretchen K. Corbin Last Mile Fund and look forward to continued partnership in support of workforce development in Georgia.”

“It’s an honor to have my name associated with a Foundation initiative that was so near and dear to my heart during my time as Commissioner,” said former TCSG Commissioner Gretchen Corbin. “Though I am no longer with the agency, I continue to cheer them on in the great, important work they are doing for the citizens of Georgia, and I am thrilled to hear of this most recent award to all TCSG colleges.”
