Historic Macon Foundation, in partnership with Historic Hills and Heights Development Corporation and the Macon Bibb County Land Bank Authority, seeks qualified respondents to purchase, rehabilitate and develop the Korner Kupboard located at 1182 Calhoun Street. Historic Macon Foundation releases a Request For Proposal on their website, historicmacon.org, for this structure in the Beall’s Hill neighborhood. Proposals are due by January 31, 2018.

“The Beall’s Hill neighborhood as seen an incredible revitalization over the past 10 years,” said Ethiel Garlington, Historic Macon Foundation’s Executive Director. “Having neighborhood businesses is the next step in its growth and something the residents have envisioned for their community. We are very excited to be a part of this new phase in the neighborhood’s development. Seeing the creativity and entrepreneurship that Macon’s residents are continually putting to action throughout our town, I have no doubt we will receive many creative proposals for this unique space.”

The Beall’s Hill Neighborhood is strategically located between Mercer University and the historic downtown of Macon, GA. Revitalization efforts began with the creation of Tattnall Place Apartments, a mixed-income development that replaced a dilapidated public housing development. Over the past 30 years, Historic Macon Foundation has revitalized the area through purchasing and rehabilitating buildings in poor condition and will continue working in Beall’s Hill until it is complete.

“The Beall’s Hill Neighborhood Association is very excited about this step!” said J.D. Dunston, Beall’s Hill Neighborhood Association President. “The Korner Kupboard building has been a part of our community for over a century, and the Beall’s Hill Neighborhood Association is looking forward to seeing what the future holds for that location. We can’t wait to hear the ideas that people have, and we are thankful that Historic Macon is helping to preserve and improve yet another historic building in our neighborhood!”
