Macon's Griffith Elected to Mercer University's Board of Trustees

Mercer University’s Board of Trustees at its annual Homecoming meeting on Nov. 3 elected Benjamin W. (Benjy) Griffith III, president and owner of Southern Pine Plantations Inc., to serve a five-year term on the governing body.
 
Griffith is a 1977 graduate of Mercer’s College of Liberal Arts.
 
Also joining the board for new five-year terms are Curtis G. Anderson of Savannah, Georgia; Barbara (Babs) Baugh of San Antonio, Texas; James C. Elder Jr. of Columbus, Georgia; J. Curtis Lewis III of Savannah, Georgia; David Linch of Atlanta, Georgia; William Anthony (Tony) Moye of McDonough, Georgia; J. Reg Murphy of Sea Island, Georgia; and Richard A. (Doc) Schneider of Atlanta, Georgia.
 
Other trustees who rotated off the board and were recognized for their service included Neville Callam of Falls Church, Virginia; Jimmy Carter of Plains, Georgia; Claude M. Kicklighter of McLean, Virginia; Holly McCorkle Jones of Jacksonville, Florida; Thomas W. Malone of North Palm Beach, Florida; M. Diane Owens of Lilburn, Georgia; Miller Peterson Robinson of Columbus, Georgia; Raymond M. (Thad) Warren of Atlanta, Georgia; and Jerry S. Wilson of Ponte Vedra, Florida.
 
The Board of Trustees also unanimously elected Carter a Life Trustee, one of only two individuals to hold that distinction at Mercer.
