GDOL to Co-sponsor a Middle Georgia Recruiting Event in Macon November 14th

Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Monday, November 6th, 2017

The Georgia Department of Labor and several other local organizations will co-sponsor a middle Georgia recruiting event on Nov. 14 in Macon.

Job seekers will be interviewed for positions in manufacturing and other industries and assessed for potential eligibility to participate in job training programs.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Building H on the Macon campus of Central Georgia Technical College located at 3300 Macon Tech Dr.

Other event sponsors include the workforce division of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Middle Georgia Consortium and Middle Georgia Regional Commission.

Among employers expected to participate are Aspen Products, Blue Bird Bus Company and Georgia Artisan, also known as Georgia Pallet. The companies are recruiting for a wide variety of jobs, including carpenters, painters, mechanics, body-repair technicians, machine operators, manufacturing assembly-line workers and personnel to pack boxes of manufactured goods for distribution.

The GDOL staff and other co-sponsors will discuss job training programs, including on-the-job training with the job seekers. Also, the GDOL will provide employment-related services to job seekers who attend the event.

Due to the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, all manufacturing workers must be at least 18 years old.

Job seekers interested in attending the events may visit employgeorgia.com to create an account and upload, or prepare, a resume. Having an Employ Georgia account expedites the interview process. In September, Employ Georgia showed 2,212 new active job postings in middle Georgia.

Applicants are encouraged to bring copies of their resumes and dress business casual to improve their chances to be hired. For more information about the recruitment, or employers wanting to participate, email [email protected]
