SparkMacon, which is Central Georgia’s first makerspace, is excited to announce a new focus on fostering creative entrepreneurs with both space and support services. The organization has transformed the space, which is located in Downtown Macon, to allow for private offices, private manufacturing areas and co-working space, in addition to common fabrication areas, which include 3D printing, electronics, laser engraving and wood working.

The physical changes at the space reflect SparkMacon’s new vision to be a catalyst for freelancers, startups and entrepreneurs, connecting, empowering and supporting them to build a stronger economy and community. SparkMacon seeks to meet every stage of entrepreneurship, from ideation to prototyping to manufacturing, by providing an adaptable space for innovation, in-house support, as well as connections to local resources that enable them to make a living doing what they love.

SparkMacon has already helped multiple creative entrepreneurs launch new ventures, including Georgia Artisan, which makes handcrafted furniture. The support Georgia Artisan received has allowed their company to grow from the space at SparkMacon into their own building, where they create unique, reclaimed furniture pieces.

“We have grown ten times over in the past year and that success can be contributed to the resources SparkMacon has to offer, such as the shared workspace environment, ability to manufacture, office and meeting spaces, access to other entrepreneurs and countless other benefits,” said Andrew Eck, Georgia Artisan Founder.

SparkMacon’s adaptable space is for creatives of all types, from producers of physical to digital products and services. “The space has provided a comfortable atmosphere to make my handcrafted bowties, as well as given me access to amazing technology resources, including a laser cutter and photo editing software,” said Aaron Brown, BowFRESH Bowties Founder. His custom bowties can be found at another Downtown Macon business, Travis Jean.

SparkMacon is thrilled with the success of the creatives who currently operate in the space, and is excited to welcome new entrepreneurs to support them making their dreams a reality.
