Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2017

The Macon-Bibb County Recreation Department is beginning to plan for the next phase of improvements at Delores A Brooks Recreation Center located at 3326 Ocmulgee East Boulevard (formerly known as East Macon Recreation Center). WM2A Architects will help develop a master plan for the Recreation Center, beginning with three public forums at the Center on October 5, October 19, and November 2 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Through these meetings, designers WM2A can develop preliminary drawings, seek additional feedback, and then provide a final drawing to the public before presenting to the Commission. Delores A. Brooks Recreation Center is slated to receive $2.4 million from the voter-approved 2018 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax. Developing a master plan with this input will let the Recreation Department and Commission better understand how the community would like the Center used now and in the future.
