Friday, October 27th, 2017

Macon Volunteer Clinic has entered a contract to purchase its building at 376 Rogers Avenue from Coliseum Health System. Macon Volunteer Clinic has occupied this location since opening in February, 2003.

Rita McCurdy, Executive Director, said, “We are grateful for Coliseum Health System’s generosity that pro-vided this building, free of charge, since 2003. As a recipient of referrals from Macon Volunteer Clinic, Fed-eral Stark Law prohibits CHS from continuing this philanthropy. We appreciate this building being made available for affordable purchase, and look forward to continued care for our patients in this location.”

Macon Volunteer Clinic provides free primary medical and dental care, as well as medication assistance, to uninsured working adult residents of Bibb County, GA, whose earnings do not exceed 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. Under the supervision of the Medical Director, licensed medical and dental professionals vol-unteer to provide health services at no cost to eligible patients.

Macon Volunteer Clinic’s continuum of care provides primary medical care, dental care, eye exams and pre-scription eyeglasses, non-narcotic medication assistance, cancer screenings, laboratory analyses, diagnostic services, and outpatient surgeries through S.P.I.N—Surgery for People In Need. In 2016 Macon Volunteer Clinic provided 5,811 patient encounters and $2.5 million in non-narcotic prescription medications.
