River Edge Expands Services to Houston County

Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Tuesday, September 26th, 2017

Beginning Dec. 1, River Edge Behavioral Health will offer child, teen, and adult mental health and substance use disorder services at its newest outpatient site at 281 Carl Vinson Parkway, Suite D, in Warner Robins.

“River Edge only wants to complement the important services that already exist,” said River Edge Chief Executive Officer Shannon Gordon, LCSW.  The site will offer a full continuum of outpatient services including behavioral health and crisis assessments, peer support, individual and family counseling, and prescriber assessment and care as well as case management services.  The site will be open 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

The Carl Vinson Parkway site had previously offered only specialty InTUNE services (Integrated Treatment Understanding Needs & Emotions) for young adults, ages 16-30, who have begun experiencing symptoms of psychosis within the previous 24 months.

This new service was developed because research indicates early intervention with psychotic disorders prevents years of accumulating disability.  “River Edge performance with past contracts allowed us to apply for special funding to begin this important service to give seriously ill teens and young adults hope and help.  Had we not applied, this important resource would have otherwise been unavailable in Central Georgia,” said Gordon.

River Edge accepts Medicaid, Medicare, and most private insurances. A sliding scale fee is offered for those without insurance.  Services are open to residents of any Georgia county.

“We know that treatment is effective and recovery is to be expected, so River Edge is honored and excited to offer new service access in Houston County,” said Gordon.
