House Study Committee on Distracted Driving to Meet in Warner Robins

State Representative John Carson (R-Marietta), Chairman of the House Study Committee on Distracted Driving, announced that the committee will hold its next meeting on Monday, September 25, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Central Georgia Technical College in Warner Robins.

Presenters will include:

  • Harris Blackwood, Director, Georgia Governor's Office of Highway Safety;

  • Capt. Derick Durden, Office of Planning & Research, Georgia State Patrol; 

  • Commissioner Spencer Moore, Georgia Department of Driver Services; 

  • Karla Riker, Director, Corporate Citizenship & Sustainability, AT&T; 

  • and local law enforcement officers from the Houston County Sheriff’s Office and the Byron Police Department. 

Other local law enforcement officers have been encouraged to participate and speak on this issue as well.  The committee will also hear testimony from the families of victims of distracted driving.

This ten-member study committee was created by House Resolution 282 during the recent legislative session and will examine whether changes to state law may help reduce instances of distracted driving.
