Wednesday, the Fulton County Commission approved a $4 million contract to River Edge Behavioral Health to provide access to core mental health and addictive disease services to 3,000 uninsured and underinsured adult Fulton residents.

Pending contract finalization, services are planned to begin at The Center for Health and Rehabilitation (265 Boulevard, NE Atlanta), the Fulton South Service Center (5600 Stonewall Tell in College Park) as well as at a-to-be finalized North Fulton location on January 1, 2018.

River Edge will partner with existing local providers such as Grady, MercyCare, Oakhurst, Southside, Community Health, and Community Friendship to coordinate care. Additionally, River Edge will work to improve care alongside advocacy groups such as Mental Health America, the Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network, NAMI Georgia, and The Carter Center as well as work collaboratively with Partners for H.O.M.E., a key not-for-profit with a mission to end homelessness in Atlanta.

“On behalf of the Board and staff team of River Edge Behavioral Health, I thank the Fulton County Commission for choosing River Edge to make additional, evidence-based behavioral healthcare available to the adult residents of Fulton County,” said Shannon Gordon, Chief Executive Officer of River Edge. “As a Georgia community service board, River Edge exists to serve and operates from the perspective that treatment is effective, and recovery can be expected. A leader in mental health and addictive disease recovery services in Central Georgia for more than 65 years, we remain intensely committed to serving our core region and move forward with the goal to only make life better for individuals and families in Fulton County.”
