Young farmers from the eighth district will share their needs with Congressman Austin Scott (R- GA-08) at a “Young Farmer Roundtable” sponsored by the National Young Farmers Coalition on Tuesday, August 15th.

The event is being held from 5:00 – 6:30 PM at the Tri-County EMC Community Room, 310 West Clinton St., Gray, GA.

At the event, young farmers will speak to their challenges as young agricultural entrepreneurs, including land access, health care and student loan debt, and ask for Congressman Scott’s support in the farm bill process.

“As Congress begins to debate the next farm bill, now is a critical time for young farmers to make their voices heard,” said Lindsey Lusher Shute, executive director and co-founder of the National Young Farmers Coalition.

Seated at the table with Congressman Scott, who is a member of the House Agriculture Committee, will be Bobby and Chelsea Losh-Jones, leaders of the Middle Georgia chapter of NYFC.  They will be joined by a panel of local young farmers from the district.

The Losh-Joneses said, “We urge area residents to attend the Young Farmers Roundtable to show Congressman Scott that supporting young farmers is crucial to our community.” To RSVP, visit www.youngfarmers.org/scott. For more info, contact [email protected], (518) 643-3564.
