For the fourth year in a row, Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA has received a prestigious stewardship award for Mission Support during Goodwill International’s 2017 Summer Conference held this week in Charlotte, N.C.

The award, in competition with all of the 165 autonomous Goodwill charities across the country, recognizes Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA for its cost-efficient operation, which returns the greatest share of revenue from retail sales of donated goods to fund Goodwill’s job training, education and career development services. The local Goodwill has received this award each year since 2014.

“Goodwill’s obligation to its generous donors and shoppers is to efficiently manage our enterprise to ensure adequate revenues are available to serve those in the community seeking career opportunities,” said James K. Stiff, President of Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA. “Our retail management and staff have consistently operated our retail training stores and donation centers with pride, knowing that their efforts fuel Goodwill’s life-changing work in our Job Connection career centers and Helms College.”

In the past five years, Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA has provided career and education services to more than 107,000 individuals, helping place nearly 28,000 people into employment. Goodwill’s 165 autonomous enterprises have helped people find employment, build financial stability, and strengthen their families and communities since Goodwill’s founding by Methodist minister Dr. Edgar J. Helms in 1902.
