Featured Artists at Perry Plein Air Invitational Paint Out & Art Sale

Marlin Adams has been selected to be a featured artist at the 2017 Perry Plein Air Invitational Paint Out & Art Sale scheduled for September 7-9th in Perry, Georgia.  A Professor of Art at Gordon State College in Barnesville, Marlin has been a winner in “The Artist’s Magazine” portrait competition and a finalist in the categories of landscape, still life, and portraiture. He was also a finalist in the 2005 Art Renewal Center International Competition in the area of still life.

Warren Griffin has been selected to be a featured artist at the 2017 Perry Plein Air Invitational Paint Out & Art Sale scheduled for September 7-9th in Perry, Georgia. Dr. Warren Griffin was born in Macon, Georgia and was reared in Alabama. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, served in the United States Marine Corps and received his MD degree from the University of Alabama Medical School.  Upon retirement from medical practice in January 1999, he then intensified his art activities, which previously had been a serious hobby. He has studied art with Scott Duce, Tony Couch, Katherine Liu, Glenn Bradshaw, Skip Lawrence, John Salminen, Scott Christensen, and Marlin Adams. He is working in oils, watercolor, painting landscapes, figurative paintings, and portraits. In 2009, he completed an Intensive Workshop at Studio Incamminati in Philadelphia.

Kari Waltz has been selected to be a featured artist at the 2017 Perry Plein Air Invitational Paint Out & Art Sale scheduled for September 7-9th in Perry, Georgia. Kari Waltz grew up in Texas and New Mexico and taught in the Texas and Georgia public school systems for 30 years. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Lubbock Christian University and completed a Masters in Educational Leadership from Georgia College and State University. Waltz is a versatile artist who works in oil, acrylic, watercolor, graphite, pastels, charcoal, and pyrography (wood burning). She has completed portrait work for Bernice King (Martin Luther King Jr.’s daughter), The Atlanta Hawks Foundation, and Mercer University.

Lee Wettstein has been selected to be a featured artist at the 2017 Perry Plein Air Invitational Paint Out & Art Sale scheduled for September 7-9th in Perry, Georgia. Lee Wettstein is a well known watercolor artist and an instructor in Middle Georgia. He has served in the past as director of the Georgia Watercolor Society, Life member of GWS, past president of the Middle Georgia Fine Art. During the past seven years, he has devoted one day a week, teaching seniors painting lessons. Lee Wettstein has drawn since an early age. In 1980, he discovered Watercolor and while attending a three day class under Windel Taylor, who was a professor at Columbus, Georgia and the first president of the Watercolor Society. Lee’s works in the past have been in Oil, Acrylic, Egg Tempera and Sculpture.  He has mostly been self taught but has studied under several Watercolor masters including Ed Whitney, Tony Couch, Ed Draper and Mary Whyte in three day workshops.

The Perry Plein Air Invitational Paint Out & Art Sale invites amateur to professional artists to paint "en plein air" for 2 days which means outdoors and on location! Artists can also register to participate in the 2 hour Quick Paint event on Saturday morning in downtown Perry.
