Hargray Communications is an Internet service provider offering “Gig” (1 Gbps) speeds to homes and businesses in the Lowcountry and the surrounding region. Gig speeds are now available throughout most of Bluffton, Hilton Head Island, Savannah, Statesboro, Hinesville, Macon, and Valdosta, and the company plans to make Gig speeds available in Beaufort, Pooler, Hardeeville and other areas later this year.

High-quality broadband service is essential to the long-term development of the region, and Hargray is thrilled to provide the network infrastructure necessary to meet the demands of the 21st Century for the community that Hargray calls home.

“It used to be that simply having access to the Internet was enough. Now, it can’t just be access; it needs to be fast and it needs to be capable of large, continuous downloads and uploads for both work and leisure activities,” said Hargray’s Chairman and CEO Michael Gottdenker. “We recognize the importance of providing robust connectivity which is why we have invested and will continue to invest in the community.  Our fiber-rich network does not just enable a service for individual customers; it is also a tool that enables the region as a whole to grow.”

“Having Gig service available is increasingly important for communities,” Gottdenker said. “It allows communities to differentiate themselves from areas that do not have that level of service and allows both residents and businesses to relocate to or remain in the community with the confidence that they will have the required communications infrastructure to thrive.”

Recognizing the importance of robust and reliable access to the Internet, Hargray recently boosted upload speeds to 5 Mbps for most of its residential customers at no additional cost to enable customers to better enjoy applications such as iCloud device storage, Google Photos, and Dropbox, further solidifying its standing as the fastest, most advanced network available.
