CGTC to Host Bibb County STEM Camp Day for Local Girls June 16th

Central Georgia Technical College is collaborating with the Bibb County School District’s Engineering, Power, Industry and Community-Girls camp to host on-campus Science, Technology, Engineering and Math activities for local female campers on Friday, June 16.

The camp, which runs June 12-16 at Howard High School, is designed to foster the interest in STEM careers for rising ninth and tenth grade females. The final day will have participants visit the Macon campus of CGTC, where faculty members, Jeff Cope, program chair for Drafting and Geographic Information Systems Technology, and Garrett Sisk, program chair for Engineering Technology, will lead the students’ discovery of STEM careers.

Campers will spend their day in the Jones Building of the College’s Macon campus, participating in hands-on activities using Lego Robotics and 3D Printers. The girls will work with Lego Robotics kits that promote the fundamentals of robotics, engineering, and mechatronics in a fun and engaging manner. The students will also spend time in the drafting lab working with Computer Aided Design and creating models with 3D printers.

The camp day at CGTC which will run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
