Shaw Industries Group, Inc. plans to expand its distribution and warehousing capacity with the lease of a 1 million square foot, build-to-suit facility in Savannah, Ga. To be developed by CRG, the property will support the company’s continued hard surface growth and its commitment to superb customer service.

With the new facility opening in early 2018, Shaw expects to add almost 140 new jobs in logistics and distribution services in the Savannah market in the next few years. “Shaw is proud to be a part of the Savannah and Chatham County communities. We are committed to providing our customers with superior service. Continually improving and expanding our logistics and distribution operations is a key component of ensuring we can deliver our broad portfolio of quality products in a timely manner,” states Phillip Dial, director of hard surface logistics at Shaw Industries.

“This state-of-the-art facility and site is an ideal location for Shaw to connect between the Savannah Port and its expansive U.S. customer base while building upon its existing distribution network,” CRG Southeast Partner Mike Demperio said.  “Northport is the premier industrial park in the area.  As a result, we see significant opportunity for Shaw Industries due to the sites close proximity to Port of Savannah and direct access to Route 21, Interstates 95 and 16.”

SEDA President and CEO Trip Tollison added, “Shaw’s announcement is a strong signal of the economic growth our region is experiencing. With the Port of Savannah, strong workforce and vast infrastructure, Savannah continues to be a place where companies want to grow and locate.”

“Manufacturing remains one of Georgia’s strongest sectors,” said Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Pat Wilson. “By taking advantage of Quick Start, the nation’s No. 1 workforce training program, as well as having direct access to skilled workforce and a thriving business environment in Savannah, it’s clear that Georgia is the right spot for Shaw to continue to expand operations.”
