Macon’s entrepreneurial community is proud to announce Macon Startup Week. Macon Start up Week is a free, seven-day celebration of the Macon community that builds momentum and opportunity around entrepreneurship. This is an event for entrepreneurs, by entrepreneurs. Through efforts of individuals representing the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce, Cox Communication, Newtown Macon, Mercer University, Navicent Health, and other organizations the first annual Macon Startup Week will debut April 7th, 2017 and run through April 13th, 2017.

Startup Week was started by TechStars, a global startup ecosystem, in Boulder, Colorado. Founded on inclusiveness and free-thinking, Startup Week celebrates the achievements of entrepreneurial communities in cities across the World. Their mission is to develop and support thriving communities wherever they may exist. Through experience, the best way to execute this goal is to bring entrepreneurs together in order to connect, share and bond.

Macon Startup Week is not led by one organization, but rather seen as a community effort. This event seeks to Connect, Educate and Promote Middle GA entrepreneurs and the community that supports them. To keep all the content relevant to the Macon community, organizers have set up five tracks of focus, including the Arts, Healthcare, Veterans, Hospitality and Business Startups.

Through grassroot efforts, Macon Startup Week has successfully gathered a diverse group of organizations and individual contributors to host events across the Macon community.  From a three-day Startup Bootcamp hosted by the Mercer Innovation Center to several sessions hosted by the University of Georgia’s Small Business and Development Center, Macon Startup Week is forecasted to bring out the brightest entrepreneurial minds in Middle Georgia.
