The Medical Center, Navicent Health extends its gratitude to its dedicated volunteers and would like to thank them for their tireless efforts to support patient care in 2016.

Through fundraisers held at MCNH, volunteers raised $112,385.00 in 2016. Funds have been designated for a variety of purposes, primarily with the intent of supporting patients and their loved ones with comforts and conveniences. Projects funded through volunteer efforts include:

· The purchase of two tablets for Navicent Health’s Interpreting Services department, to assist patients with Limited English Proficiency and those communicating through American Sign Language.

· The funding of five scholarships for college students pursuing allied health degrees.

· The funding of four scholarships to the Georgia Hospital Association Youth Camp.

· The funding of a support program for families with patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at MCNH, to include scrapbooking supplies to mark important milestones in baby’s development.

Volunteers host vendor sales throughout the year that are open to Navicent Health employees and the public, including jewelry and accessory sales, book sales, electronic sales, and outerwear sales. In addition to raising funds, volunteers also donated 8,760 hours of their time in 2016 to assist with patient care and satisfaction.

“Our volunteers are an integral part of The Medical Center, Navicent Health. Their support makes it possible for us to achieve so much more than we could on our own, and they are able to add that extra touch of kindness for our patients and visitors,” said Missi Upshaw, Director of Volunteer Services for MCNH.
