The 2017 Macon-Bibb County Earth Day celebration is from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, and for the third year, it’s at the beautiful Tattnall Square Park. This year’s theme is Environmental & Climate Literacy, so people will have many chances to learn about the world around us, and how to keep it and ourselves healthy.
 
Vendors and exhibitors will provide interactive learning projects, demonstrations, face painting, and a Kids Zone. 13WMAZ Meteorologist Matt Daniel will be at the Welcome Tent talking about weather and the climate, and he and GPB Macon’s Josephine Bennett will be announcing door prize winners.
 
The Solid Waste Department will be on hand showing people how to recycle and divert material from the landfill. The weekly Mulberry Market will be set up, and people can get up close and personal with snakes and turtles with the Southeastern Reptile Rescue. The Wellness Zone hosted by the Georgia Fitness and Wellness Festival will have sports activities for kids and adults, chair massages, kids’ tennis, and an obstacle course set up.
