Middle Georgia State University Honors Program Students Present Research at Conference

Four Middle Georgia State Honors Program students presented research at the Georgia Collegiate Honors Council Conference, which was held at Columbus State University, Feb. 17-18. Senior English major Tiffany Barragan won second place in the humanities essay contest for her paper "The Natural Order of a Father and His Daughter: An Ecofeminist Approach to Father-Daughter Relationships in Shakespeare."
 
The other MGA participants and their paper titles are:
 
* Sylvia Colquitt, freshman English major, "'Sleepy Hollow' and the Hallmark Channel: Primitivism in Modern Melodrama"
 
* Rachel Hastings, senior NMAC major, "A Mother’s Battle with Herself and a Look at a Woman’s Emotions after an Abortion in Gwendolyn Brooks's Poem 'The Mother'"
 
* Rachel Maddox, junior English major, "Female Sexuality and the Elite in Tess of the D’Urbervilles"
