The Macon Arts Alliance is pleased to announce we are now accepting nominations for the 2016 Cultural Awards. Nominations are being accepted now through Wednesday, August 17, 2016. Electronic and printable pdf forms can be found by visiting maconartsalliance.org.

In celebration of National Arts and Humanities Month in October, Macon Arts Alliance hosts the annual Cultural Awards ceremony to recognize individuals, organizations and businesses who have made significant contributions to the arts and cultural life of Central Georgia through their work. Nominations are accepted from the community annually and an independent panel selects each year's honorees. This tradition began in 1991.

The 2016 Cultural Awards will be held on Tuesday, October 25 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Historic Douglass Theatre in Downtown Macon. The event is free and open to the public.

Past honorees include but are not limited to Beverly Blake (2015), Joan Stockstill Godsey (2010), Eleanor A. Lane (2010), Susan McDuffie (1998), Carey Pickard (1996), Chris Sheridan (1995), and Alan Walden (2011).

The Rosalyn Elkan Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to one noteworthy individual to recognize their sincere and passionate interest in the advancements of the arts in Central Georgia.  The recipient has dedicated him/herself to a path that breathes life into our community by way of accomplishments and significant contribution.

The Macon Arts Alliance desires the widest participation possible, encouraging individuals and organizations to make nominations as soon as possible. For more information, contact Lauren M. Kritsas, Director of Communications.
