Over 40 high school students in Georgia recently graduated from the Colony Leadership Academy, a year-long leadership style program created by Colony Bank.  The graduation ceremony took place on November 18th in Savannah and upon completion of the program, each student received up to a $1,000 scholarship to the college or university of their choice.

Colony Leadership Academy, which is available to high school juniors during the last half of their junior year through the first half of their senior year, serves to empower students to become familiar with all aspects of their community while developing skills essential for active leadership roles.  During the program, students participate in four sessions for lessons in Health and Recreation, Economic Development, Arts and Culture, Public Safety, Social Services, Education and Government Affairs.

This year’s class visited Albany, Moultrie, and Columbus, and concluded with a final session in Savannah. The 43 participants represented counties from all over Georgia including Ben Hill, Bibb, Brooks, Bulloch, Coffee, Colquitt, Coweta, Crisp, Dougherty, Effingham, Gwinnett, Lee, Muscogee, Terrell, Tift, Troup, and Turner.

“At Colony Bank, one of the ways we choose to give back is through leadership development and it’s been a privilege to offer this program to students throughout our footprint. We’re proud to recognize this year’s class on their graduation. This is a bright group of young leaders and we look forward to the contributions they will make across the state,” said Heath Fountain, Chief Executive Officer of Colony Bank.

Since its inception in 2021, Colony Bank has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to 113 students through its Colony Leadership Academy.
