Visit Macon Launches New Photo Spots Trail App During National Travel & Tourism Week

Staff Report

Tuesday, May 9th, 2023

Visit Macon will launched its new ‘Macon Photo Spots’ Trail App on Sunday – for the ultimate photo worthy spots in Macon. The easy-to-use mobile app will serve as a local guide for visitors and the community to find the best photos that capture the uniqueness of Macon.

Download Visit Macon’s Tour Macon app to find the Photo Spots trail to guide you to each spot. At each location will be the Photo Spot decal where you can pose for a photo. Users are encouraged to upload their photos to social media and tag Visit Macon and #MaconMemories.

In celebration of the launch of the app and National Travel and Tourism Week (May 7-13), Visit Macon is hosting a giveaway! Anyone who posts one of their photo spot photos between Sunday, May 7 and Wednesday, May 10 will be entered into to win tickets to see Sunny War at Grant's Lounge on Thursday, May 11. To enter, download the Visit Macon app, take a photo at your favorite photo spot and post to social media tagging @VisitMacon and #MaconMemories. The winner will be announced Thursday morning via Visit Macon’s social channels.

Macon’s Photo Spots started as a Downtown Challenge grant in 2018.  With the launch of the trail app, Visit Macon has updated the original markers and expanded the footprint of the photo-worthy spots to places like Amerson River Park, Ingleside Village, Triangle Arts, The Big House Museum, and Tattnall Square.

“Macon is not only camera-worthy, but sharing photos of these iconic spots is the perfect way for visitors & locals to become advocates of our destination’s unique offerings!” says Marisa Rodgers, Director of Marketing at Visit Macon. “There is no more powerful tool to bring visitors in than seeing others experiencing everything our destination has to offer on social media.  We want everyone to become Macon Ambassadors!”

Throughout National Travel and Tourism week visitors and the local community can partake in a variety of events throughout the week that showcase all Macon has to offer. From our historic and photo-worthy attractions, legendary live music, and notable filming locations, each event highlights what makes Macon unique.
