Community Foundation Announces the Fall 2022 Nonprofit Grant Recipients

Join us in congratulating these 21 nonprofits across the Central Georgia region who recently received a total of $338,000 from our Nonprofit Grant Program. Read more below about their funded projects working to address the most urgent needs and opportunities in our region.

100 Black Men Milledgeville/Oconee Chapter | Baldwin County
$10,000 for Financial Literacy

  • To use the 'Hands on Banking Program', which is a virtual financial literacy curriculum to introduce Middle and High School students to financial literacy.

Achieve Foundation | Houston County
$15,000 for Reading with Kings

  • To support the 'Reading with Kings' literacy program to increase reading levels and comprehension as well as sparking excitement about reading among minority boys.

Cafe Central, Inc. | Baldwin County
$7,500 for Equipment Upgrade

  • To purchase a new, larger cooler for fresh food refrigeration.

Central Georgia Council, Boy Scouts of America #096 | Bibb County
$20,000 for Mentors In Scouting - Violence Prevention in Macon-Bibb County

  • To address the negative impact of crime and poverty by adding dedicated mentors and resources in distressed neighborhoods with the goal of deterring youth from violence.

Communities In Schools of Georgia in Laurens-Twiggs County | Laurens County
$10,000 for Breaking Down Transportation Barriers for Students in Rural Communities

  • To purchase a van to transport students to afterschool and extracurricular activities in Laurens and Twiggs County to enhance a quality education.

Crisis Line & Safe House of Central GA | Bibb County
$20,000 for The Client Assistance Fund

  • To support the Client Assistance Fund, which provides financial assistance to victims of domestic abuse to enhance safety and stabilize women and their families.

Depaul USA, Inc. | Bibb County
$20,000 for Daybreak

  • To provide essential services to individuals challenged by poverty and homelessness through a day center and permanent supportive housing.

Family Advancement Ministry | Bibb County
$18,000 for Two- en Support for Families

  • To provide a two-generation approach to economic security for children and parents through education.

Friends of Douglass Theatre Complex, Inc. | Bibb County
$20,000 for The Douglass Theatre

  • To support series of events that honor the historical significance of the theatre and serve as a voice for healing.

Georgia Kinship Project Inc. | Houston County
$5,000 for Relative Caregiver Mental Health and Wellness Project

  • To provide a Kinship Support Group and mental health programming to reduce stress and incidences of placement disruption for children.

Houston County Habitat for Humanity | Houston County
$9,500 for Land Development for Perry Residential Build

  • To build a home on a residential lot in Perry, Georgia that was donated to Houston County Habitat for Humanity.

Life Enrichment Center | Baldwin County 

$18,000 for Urban Arts Village

  • The Urban Arts Village will unify the community’s love for the arts and for gardening through music, art and culinary programs.

Loaves and Fishes Ministry of Macon & Middle Georgia | Bibb County
$20,000 for Grocery Outreach Expansion

  • To support the grocery delivery program, which now provides nutritional items such as eggs, fruits and vegetables and baked goods in addition to traditional pantry staples.

Lockerly Arboretum | Baldwin County
$15,000 for Paving Project

  • To pave the 1-mile loop path that runs along the perimeter of the property, allowing cars to drive through the grounds and handicap accessibility to the Arboretum.

Macon Arts Alliance | Bibb County
$15,000 for The Canopy Project

  • To support 'The Canopy Project', which is an artist-initiated monumental art work to explore beauty in the manipulation of cotton as surface design through the eyes of textile artist, Wini McQueen.

Macon Outreach at Mulberry | Bibb County
$20,000 for Feeding Programs

  • To support address the need of those living in poverty in Central Georgia through hot meal, grocery and clothing programs.

Macon Volunteer Clinic, Inc. | Bibb County
$20,000 for Enhanced Treatment of Diabetes

  • To enhance treatment for Diabetes patients by providing automatic glucometer readings, glucometer supplies, and A1C testing.

Martin Centre Preservation Company, Inc.|Coffee County
$20,000 for Theatre Interior Rehab

  • To continue the Theatre rehabilitation project including roof repairs, replacing wallpaper, and repainting.

Museum of Arts and Sciences | Bibb County
$15,000 for MAS Educational & Cultural Programming

  • To provide high quality educational and cultural programming for the Central Georgia region, serving students from 135 counties.

Rehoboth Life Care Ministries | Houston County
$20,000 for Improving Dental Health for Uninsured Adults in Central Georgia

  • To provide preventive and emergency dental services, including oral health education, dental hygiene treatment, fillings, sealants, restorations, extractions, and denture preparations.

River Edge Behavioral Health | Bibb County
$20,000 for Serenity Courtyard

  • To support the 'Serenity Courtyard of Macon', which has 26 one-bedroom units to serve homeless, low-income, elderly people who have a mental health diagnosis.
