Trick-Or-Treating In Downtown Macon Returns

Friday, October 29th, 2021

On Saturday, October 30, NewTown Macon and Main Street Macon will host trick-or-treating in downtown Macon from 4pm to 7pm. Thirty-three businesses will open their doors to families with children in Macon’s Central Business District and pass out candy.

“Each year, we are overwhelmed by the number of families enjoying downtown Macon and interacting with downtown merchants during trick-or-treating,” said Emily Hopkins, NewTown Macon’s Director of Place and Main Street Macon Manager. “Downtown is an inclusive space for every Maconite and this is one of the ways we welcome every member of our community to enjoy our urban streets.”

The Macon Action Plan Refresh cites the need for more family and kid friendly programming and infrastructure in Macon’s urban core. Trick-or-treating in downtown Macon is one of the ways NewTown’s Main Street board works to create more family-friendly opportunities and to provide a fun and safe way for families to experience downtown Macon and its amenities. Once trick-or-treaters have collected all the candy they can, families are encouraged to stay downtown and enjoy dinner at one of downtown’s 58 restaurants.

“Bringing families and kids to downtown Macon is at the heart of everything we do,” said Scott Mitchell, Main Street Macon board member and owner of Travis Jean Emporium + The Bohemian Den. “We want downtown to be a place where kids and kids-at-heart can make memories that will last a lifetime.”

Trick-or-Treat in Downtown Macon is free and open to the public. Masks are strongly encouraged. For more information and a list of participating businesses, check out the Facebook event: https://fb.me/e/7XEtNJreI
