2021 Macon Film Festival Official Selection Lineup & Schedule

The Macon Film Festival is celebrating its 16th annual event with a hybrid festival featuring both in-person and virtual screenings and events. The in-person festival will take place in Macon, Georgia August 19th – 22nd with film screenings at the Douglass Theatre, Georgia Sports Hall of Fame and in the planetarium at the Museum of Arts & Sciences. The virtual festival is scheduled for August 26th – 29th on the Macon Film Festival channel hosted by Film Festival Flix.

Over eighty-five films from around the world are slated to be showcased during the hybrid festival. This year’s list of official selection films includes Narrative Feature, Documentary, Narrative Shorts, LGBTQ Shorts, Student Shorts, Music and Fulldome. The 2021 line up also features multiple Georgia Made blocks including two Macon filmmaker showcases. 

"After a successful virtual festival in 2020, we are excited for the opportunity to be back in person as well as continuing to provide a virtual option for our audience” said festival programmer Tabitha Lynne Walker. “With thought provoking documentaries, impactful shorts, entertaining features, and immersive fulldome content this year's collection of official selection films have a little something for everyone.”

The festival schedule and a complete listing of 2021 official selection films is now available on maconfilmfestival.com. The online schedule allows attendees the opportunity to curate their own unique festival experience while also following festival announcements about soon to be released special screenings, workshops and other festival events. 

With support from the Downtown Challenge 2.0, a project of the Community Foundation of Central Georgia, this year’s festival will kick off with a special, free, outdoor screening event on Thursday, August 19th. The event will take place on the grounds of the Mill Hill Community Arts Center located at 213 Clinton Street in downtown Macon. Special screening films, filmmaker guests and community workshops will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Macon Film Festival virtual channel schedule will be announced in August. The festival’s virtual Film Festival Flix channel is available on Roku, Apple TV+, Fire TV and Android TV. Additional festival information, schedule and ticketing links can be found on maconfilmfestival.com.
