Eighth Annual Dancing Stars of Central Georgia 
Raises over $188,000 for The Alzheimer’s Association

On Saturday, May 4, philanthropic Central Georgia residents raised over $188,000 for Dancing Stars of Central Georgia. The event took place at the Macon City Auditorium and mirrored the popular TV show, pairing local Central Georgia residents with professional dancers to raise money by gaining votes in a one-night gala dance competition. The money raised funds Alzheimer’s care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Star Mic Miller with pro Sarah Beth Amos took home the People’s Choice Award for raising the most money, totaling over $37,000. All in all, the eleven Central Georgia-based celebrities collectively raised over $188,000. The 2019 Judges’ Choice Award was awarded to Star dancer Dr. Paul Evans and professional dance partner Princess Davis. 

“It’s an honor to be the People’s Choice Winner for the 2019 Dancing Stars of Central Georgia. I greatly appreciate everyone that contributed this year”, added Mic Miller. Because of your support, we’ve made tremendous progress in reclaiming the future for millions”.

Dancing Stars of Central Georgia included Dr. Paul Evans, Carson Jones, Salwa Megally, Heather Neal, Corrie Hall, Tami Fricks, Robby Mathis, Dr. Patricia Walker, Brian Nelson, Lisa Wheeler, and Mic Miller.

The event was hosted by WDEN’s Laura Starling and WGXA’s Meteorologist Jeff Cox. Celebrity judges included Jayme Hale, Mark Ballard and Michael Dunaway.

Dr. Champa Woodham, this year’s co-chair, states “ I’m so honored to have co-chaired the Dancing Stars of Central Georgia event this year. Seeing so many members of our community come together to support such a great cause is amazing.”
