    In the month of June, more passengers than previous months used Middle Georgia Regional Airport to fly to Baltimore Washington International Airport on Contour Airlines or to Biloxi on the weekend charter flight with Sun Country Air. More than 3,000 passengers came through the airport (1,521 boarding at MCN), which was an average of 89% of load capacity and a 7% increase from May.

  • Five Below to Create More Than 130 Jobs in Monroe County, Invest $70M

    Gov. Nathan Deal announced that Five Below, a leading high-growth value retailer, will create 130 jobs and invest $70 million to build a new distribution center in Monroe County. The initial investment includes $42 million in land and building and approximately $28 million in machinery and equipment. Additional investment will occur over the next five years.

  • Georgia Lottery Transfers More than $1.14B to Education

    Gov. Nathan Deal today announced that the Georgia Lottery Corp. transferred its fiscal year 2018 profits, a total of $1,143,514,000, to the State Treasury’s Lottery for Education Account. This is the largest annual transfer on record, bringing the total funding raised for education programs to more than $19.8 billion during the 25-year history of the Georgia Lottery.
