The Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce and the Macon Economic Development Commission announce the winners of the 2016 Business and Industry of the Year Awards.  Qualifying businesses are evaluated on their economic impact to Central Georgia, as well as their corporate citizenship and volunteer activities. The awards are open to all businesses in Macon-Bibb County, regardless of their membership status in the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce. 

This year’s awards will be presented at the winners’ place of business, enabling the award winners to celebrate this achievement with their employees. During yesterday’s press conference and awards ceremony, Macon Occupational Medicine was named Small Business of the Year. Leonard Bevill, president of Macon Occupational Medicine thanked the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce and the Macon Economic Development Commission for the award and added, “This award means the world to us. We are proud to have been able to serve businesses in this community for 15 years and we are honored to have been recognized.”  

Awards are given in three categories, Small Business of the Year is awarded to a company that has been in business at least 5 years and has 49 employees or less. Business of the Year nominees must have been in business at least 5 years, been engaged in commerce in Macon-Bibb County, and have 50 or more employees.  This year’s Business of the Year is OrthoGeorgia.  Industry of the Year is awarded to a company that is engaged in manufacturing, warehousing & distribution or logistics, have at least 50 employees and been in business at least 5 years.  HAECO has been named Industry of the Year.
