Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Tuesday, July 7th, 2015

Beasley Forest Products, Inc. (located in Hazlehurst, Georgia) has entered into an agreement with Battle Lumber Company, Inc. to purchase Battle’s wholly-owned subsidiaries BLC Hardwood Flooring, LLC and Wood Fiber Technologies, LLC (both located in Macon, Georgia).

BLC Hardwood Flooring is a manufacturer of unfinished and prefinished solid wood flooring.  Its products are sold worldwide under many labels through retailers and wholesale distributors.

Wood Fiber Technologies is a manufacturer of wood flour that is sold throughout the United States.  Wood flour is used as a base material for composite decking and similar products, foundry molds, fire logs, and many other products.  Wood flour is also commonly used as a drilling fluid additive for oil and gas production.

“This acquisition is truly a positive for the region and I am excited by what bringing Beasley to Macon as a new corporate citizen will mean for further economic growth and investment in the community” stated Jason Delves, President of BLC Hardwood Flooring and Wood Fiber Technologies.  “We currently employ approximately 135 employees in Macon, Georgia and plan for this number to grow significantly over the next two years under Beasley.”

Delves continued, “Battle, a family owned business since 1962, has been a great steward of both companies here in Macon for more than a decade. After acquiring these companies out of turn-around situations and successfully rebuilding them into thriving businesses, Battle is now taking advantage of a unique opportunity to sell them to a company motivated to see their growth continue.  This transaction provides Beasley with new outlets for expanding production as the company continues to invest in new opportunities. Beasley is no stranger to growth and diversification as, in addition to sawmill operations, Beasley also manages and owns wood pellet mills, a shavings plant and a power plant.  I am confident BLC and Wood Fiber will prove to be fantastic new additions to Beasley's growing enterprise and that Macon-Bibb County will benefit from the company's investment plans in the area just as it has from Battle's over the years.”

Beasley Forest Products, Inc. is a family owned and integrated forest products company with its core operations consisting of hardwood sawmills (located in Georgia and Wisconsin) which produce more than 250 million board feet of lumber annually.

“This is a great addition to the Beasley family of companies, and we are excited about the opportunity to grow these businesses and to work closely with Macon-Bibb County to spur economic growth and investment in the community,” said Darrell Beasley, the CEO of Beasley Forest Products, Inc.

Both of these transactions are expected to close in the next 30 to 60 days.
