Monday, May 11th, 2015

After a banner year for hiring in 2014, GEICO's office in Macon is once again bringing career opportunities to Central Georgia residents by adding 200 new positions in 2015. In addition to new positions in sales, service, centralized services and claims, GEICO is also hiring for new part-time roles in its growing Emergency Roadside Service (ERS) unit.

"Last year we had a really ambitious hiring goal of 500 new associates that we were thrilled to be able to meet," said Rhett Rayburn, Macon Southeast regional vice president. "This year we're keeping our foot on the gas pedal by adding 200 new positions to keep pace with policyholder growth. Many of the new positions will be on our ERS team, which is critical in making sure our customers get fast, outstanding service when they're locked out of their car or need a tow."

GEICO's office in Macon, home to more than 5,200 associates, is the company's largest business location and provides claims, service and sales counseling for customers in the Midwest and Southeast as well as centralized services for policyholders across the country. GEICO opened the office in 1974, and it is now one of the largest private employers in Middle Georgia.

Each year GEICO associates in Macon contribute hundreds of community service hours and thousands of dollars to local and national organizations by volunteering and fundraising. In March 2015 GEICO was named the United Way of Central Georgia’s top contributor for the 11th year in a row after pledging more than $1.1 million during the 2014 fundraising campaign, and in 2014 Macon-Bibb County Mayor Robert Reichert gave GEICO a key to the city and named February 19 as GEICO Appreciation Day.

Don Robinson, GEICO's new regional vice president of Midwest operations in Macon, said Macon associates' dedication to bettering their community serves as inspiration for GEICO associates across the country. "Every year I'm amazed at how our associates in Macon are able to top themselves by donating more of their time and energy to worthy causes. I'm thrilled that I will get to be a part of it this year."
