Georgia is home to 962,085 small businesses.  Owning your own business is the American dream, but building it to withstand the test of time takes a unique set of tools – and a lot of hard work.  The University of Georgia Small Business Development Center’s StartSmart 2015 program will help you launch a business built for today’s challenging times. 

StartSmart returns to Macon Friday, March 20th, 2015.  The program will provide the essential tools needed for aspiring entrepreneurs to launch their company or even those in business up to two years learn the tools they may have been initially overlooked. StartSmart is designed specifically for new entrepreneurs and provides the resources and support to put your dreams within reach.

In these weekly interactive sessions, participants will cover eight high-energy module topics about Foundations for a Successful Business, Market & Research Analysis, Capturing the Market, Efficient Operations, Financial Foundations, Financial Plan, Bringing it All Together, and Implementing and Presenting the Plan.  The scheduled program dates are:

  • March 20th, 2015 from 9am – Noon
  • March 27th, 2015 from 9am – 4pm
  • April 3rd, 2015 from 9am - Noon
  • April 10th, 2015 from 9am - Noon
  • April 17th, 2015 from 9am – 4pm
  • April 24th, 2015 from 9am – Noon 

StartSmart was developed by the Georgia SBDC Network.  The program is facilitated by specially trained SBDC Consultants.  Participants will be given their own personal copy of an award winning textbook by renowned author Rhonda Abrams.

The program will be held in the UGA SBDC Macon Office, located at 4785 Riverside Drive, Suite 202. Registration is 495 dollars and includes materials, books, and lunch for the two full-day classes.  Register by calling the UGA SBDC Macon office at (478) 757-3609 for more information.
