Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Monday, March 2nd, 2015

Adding to its comprehensive portfolio of communications services including high speed Internet, cable TV and digital telephone, Cox Communications announced today the launch of Cox Homelife to customers in the Middle Georgia market. Cox first piloted the home security and automation product in Arizona in 2011 and has since rolled out the service across its other markets over the past several years.

Cox Homelife provides a wide array of both security and advanced smart home features not found in most traditional alarm systems with time-saving, cost-saving, and worry-saving features to help customers manage their homes. The reliable, 24/7 secure monitoring and home management systems feature:

  • Intrusion and home safety monitoring (includes fire, gas and flood)

  • Remote access so the system can be controlled away from home via a secure online site or Smartphone app

  • Email/Text alerts to notify customers of occurrences at the home

  • Safety sensors to detect hazardous conditions such as carbon monoxide and smoke

  • Secure video monitoring and recording available via smart phone or a web browser

  • Control of home functions such as lighting and temperature

  • Customizable sound notifications for each door in the home

Demonstrations of the service are available in the company’s Solutions Stores, enhancing the high-tech, high-touch service experience in its retail environment as well as online at www.cox.com/homelife.

“Customers trust Cox each day to connect them to the things they care about. For most people, home and family are at the top of that list,” said Jacqui Vines, senior vice president and region manager, Cox Southeast Region. “Cox Homelife is a natural extension of the communications services we deliver.”

Cox Homelife is reinventing the services and options customers have available to them to help protect their home, family, time and budget. The system is free with a $99 installation and three year contract with professionally monitored Home Security service plans starting at $29.99.

One of Cox’s competitive advantages with this product is the ability to offer customers a Cox bundle. With the addition of home security and automation services, all of a customer’s Cox services will appear on one bill. Cox Homelife is another example of how the company will continue to explore new ways to grow and offer products and services to customers how, when and where they want them.

“Cox Homelife is consistent with our desire to deliver solutions that meet the individual and unique needs of each customer,” said Vines. “One home may require a video camera near their pool for safety reasons. Another family may want text message alerts sent when children arrive home from school. No two installations are exactly alike.”
