Dr. Ninfa M. Saunders, President and CEO of Navicent Health, has been named the “2014 Person of the Year” by The Telegraph, central Georgia’s daily newspaper.

Editors and reporters at The Telegraph selected Saunders as the 2014 Person of the Year for her efforts to consolidate local healthcare options, collaborate with competitors and increase central Georgia’s medical profile.

“It is such a surprise to be chosen as central Georgia’s Person of the Year. I humbly accept this award on behalf of the employees and physicians at Navicent Health, and those who depend on Navicent Health for their care. Without each of these people, our successes would not be possible,” said Saunders.

Saunders was also named the Georgia Alliance of Community Hospital’s 2014 CEO of the Year in October, and included on Becker’s Hospital Review’s list of “130 Women Hospital and Health System Leaders to Know in 2014.”

“We are thrilled that Dr. Saunders and Navicent Health have been recognized for their innovative approach to healthcare on the state, national and now local levels. As the healthcare industry continues to evolve, Navicent Health remains a dynamic industry leader,” said Starr Purdue, Chairperson of the Navicent Health Board of Directors.
